Topic:
Our current biodiversity evolved over billions of years in response to changing environmental conditions. Today we unerstandt that the evolution of the biosphere constantly changed environmental conditions throughout this time. Many positive and negative feedbacks between the biosphere and a number of environmental factros (including climate) have been identified so far, but it is not always clear how environment and biodiversity (as an important aspect of the biosphere) interacted.
It is the aim of this symposium to demonstrate how biodiversity and environment have interacted during this long and complex evolution, based on case studies on marine as well as continental biota. We therefore iinvite our colleagues to submit contributions spanning the entire history of the earth.
